The American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition is open to school students and adults of all nationalities and countries.
 

Multiple winners will be chosen in each of the following age groups:
 

School Students:

                   Adults:

5 – 10 Amateur without professional degree
11 – 14 College students and professional musicians
15 – 18  

 

American Protégé Competition awards:

 

First Prize and Second Prize for School Students

First Prize for College Students/Professionals and Amateur

Performance on Sunday March 14, 2010 at 7:30PM at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in NYC

Dr. Sophya Genis was elected as a  Chairwoman of the Competition 2010. A graduate of the Moscow Gnessin Academy of Music, Mrs. Genis holds a Doctor of Music Arts Degree. She studied piano with such renowned professors as Alexander Yoheles, Yakov Milstein and Zack.

American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition 2010 Rules.

  1. Applicants must submit:
  • CD/DVD/VHS tape recording. Applicant may choose one or several pieces from the standard repertoire (Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Contemporary periods)
  • Completed application form
  • Non-refundable application fee US$150.00. Please make check or international money order payable to American Protégé.

        Application Deadline – Application materials must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2010

  1. A short biography of the applicant (past participations in competitions, festivals and other events) and a portrait photo in electronic format, to be used for the Competition brochure printing, should be sent via e-mail to info@americanprotege.com.
  2. Time limit for the application CD/DVD:
         School students 5 - 10 years old – not exceed 10 min
      11 – 14 years old – not exceed 12 min
      15 – 18 years old – not exceed 15 min
         Amateur/Adults – not exceed 15 min
         College Students/Professionals – not exceed 20 min
  3. Recordings should be a fair representation of the Contestant's abilities, but need not be professional quality. Recording materials must be labeled.
  4. Judges comments will not be disclosed.
  5. The final selection of winners will be based solely on the audio/video recordings submitted
  6. Contestants must perform from memory. No repeats. Music for the ensembles does not have to be memorized
  7. The CD/DVD will not be returned.

Winners will be notified by e-mail no later than February 20, 2010. A non-refundable recital fee of $170.00 is due after the notification. It includes 4 complimentary tickets, admission for participant and diploma
